ME

I'm a writer, educator, licensed psychotherapist and coach, and a certified meditation instructor.

My practice as a therapist has been influenced by formal training in clinical psychology, fine art and art education.  I believe in supporting my clients in their pursuit to live with the greatest well-being, personal insight and an ability to ride the waves of life.  My interests in Buddhist philosophy and meditation infuse this work as a way to deepen clients' self-knowledge, inner balance and resiliency.

I've written numerous articles and co-authored The Healing Choice (Simon & Schuster) with  psychotherapist Candace De Puy.

I've been honored to appear as an expert on NPR and other national and international radio shows, in addition to television programs. I've taught at universities and medical schools;  lectured to professional and lay organizations; consulted with The Women's Initiative at the White House; and presented a Congressional Briefing in Washington, D.C. on the topic of reproductive health issues.

I live with my happy husband and many happy animals.  If you need to find me, I can usually be found covered in dirt, humming, digging in my garden.

MY MISSION STATEMENT

To promote the balanced life.  A life which embodies physical, psychological, intellectual and communal well-being.

MY PHILOSOPHY

The balanced life is shaped by dedication, commitment, and effort, with the singular focus of making oneself the most important person in his/her universe. And from that place of immense self-valuing, to be a productive and caring individual, able to tolerate pain while celebrating personal triumph and embodying deep compassion for other human beings.
